A roof tent for your Ford Ranger
What fits, what your Ranger can carry, and how the tent mounts. This is a guide, not engineering advice: your handbook and your rack maker's instructions come first.

Which size
Mid or Max. Most Ranger owners fit the tent over the load bay on a bed rack. Measure the rack: the Mid is 168 cm long closed and the Max 188 cm.
- The Mid: £1,799, sleeps 2 adults + 1 child, 168 × 123 cm closed
- The Max: £1,999, sleeps 2 adults + 2 children, 188 × 123 cm closed
What the roof can carry
| On the move (dynamic) | about 85 kg on the cab roof, including the rack (current model) |
| Parked (static) | not published by Ford UK |
| Our tents | the Mid 50 kg, the Max 54 kg, plus 5 kg for the ladder |
Ford's figure for the current Ranger in Australia; UK models may differ, so check your handbook. Over the load bay, the bed rack's own rating is the limit that counts. The tent, its mount and anything else on the roof all count towards the limit.
How it mounts
In the maker's video the tent is lifted onto a bed rack over the load bay and bolted down. The maker's photos also show it on a Ranger's roof rack.
Height
Over the load bay the closed tent sits on the rack, which keeps it close to the height of the cab. Check your garage and the car parks you use.
Check your own car
Tell our assistant who is sleeping, your car and its roof load, or add a photo of the handbook page. You get a preliminary answer straight away, and we confirm before you pay anything more than the £99 refundable deposit.
