A roof tent for your Jeep Wrangler
What fits, what your Wrangler can carry, and how the tent mounts. This is a guide, not engineering advice: your handbook and your rack maker's instructions come first.

Which size
Mid or Max. The maker's photos show the tent over the cab of two-door and four-door Wranglers. On a two-door, measure first: the Mid is 20 cm shorter than the Max.
- The Mid: £1,799, sleeps 2 adults + 1 child, 168 × 123 cm closed
- The Max: £1,999, sleeps 2 adults + 2 children, 188 × 123 cm closed
What the roof can carry
| On the move (dynamic) | about 45 kg on the hardtop, including bars |
| Parked (static) | not published by Jeep |
| Our tents | the Mid 50 kg, the Max 54 kg, plus 5 kg for the ladder |
Jeep's owner's manual figure for a roof rack on the hardtop. With its ladder and a mount, every one of our tents weighs more than that, so on a Wrangler the tent should not sit on the hardtop alone. It goes on brackets or a rack fixed to the body, and that rack's own rating applies. The tent, its mount and anything else on the roof all count towards the limit.
How it mounts
In the maker's video the tent goes on its tailgate brackets, which are fixed to the body, with no roof bars. A body-mounted rack rated for the load works too.
Height
The maker measured a Wrangler JK at 181 cm before and 198 cm with the tent on its brackets. Check your garage and the car parks you use.
Check your own car
Tell our assistant who is sleeping, your car and its roof load, or add a photo of the handbook page. You get a preliminary answer straight away, and we confirm before you pay anything more than the £99 refundable deposit.
